PTS Training

Looking to work on or around the UK railway? Our Personal Track Safety (PTS) Initial Training provides the essential entry-level competence required for many railway roles.

What’s Included?

The PTS programme combines online learning with 2 days of classroom and practical training covering AC and DCCR.

PTS Initial Training – 2 days
PTS E-learning and assessment
Medical, drugs and alcohol screening
Classroom and practical training
Sentinel card competence
Training covering safe working practices on or near the railway

You must successfully complete the E-learning assessment before attending the practical/classroom training.

What Will You Learn?

The course prepares you to understand your responsibilities when working on or near the railway and to follow a Safe System of Work (SSOW) correctly.

PTS Competence Validity

Your PTS competence is valid for 2 years. Before it expires, you can complete a 1-day PTS Re-certification.

Important: Re-certification must be completed within 56 days of your PTS expiry date. If this deadline is missed, you will need to complete the PTS Initial course again.
